Can I just start by saying I think you do a FANTASTIC job! Since 2002, I have been visiting schools all around Australia and for 2 of those years worked part time as a creative writing teacher and library assistant in a school in Sydney’s inner west. I can’t say enough how much I admire the work of the teachers I have met. It is a hard job and one that has many ups and downs, but I think it and the kids are in very good hands. Now, let’s get down to work… Below are a few activities I have used in schools that have worked well to get even the most resistant book reading kid inspired. I try to aim by the end of the session to create a level of excitement and fun around books…even for the kids who don’t often pick them up. So click on a link below or in the menu above for some ideas on getting kids to read and use their imaginations!
